Sallie Ann Glassman is an artist, who does representational paintings in oils, acrylic and guache and also creates altar installations. She refers to her style as not supernatural, but rather “preternatural” as she focuses on a heightened sense of the numinous energetic and spiritual presence within the world around her. She often paints visionary portraits, based on the crystal ball readings that she has been doing since the age of 13. She is the artist of The Enochian Tarot Deck, the co-creator and artist of The New Orleans Voodoo Tarot, and the author and artist of the book, Vodou Visions. As a manbo asogwe (A priestess of the Haitian Vodou religion initiated at the highest level) she leads her Vodou society in weekly ceremony in her temple and throughout the year offers larger public ceremonies that require the installation of altars and involve the participation of initiated drummers, singers a and dancers. She also creates fabulous Vodou-related items, including hand-made spirit dolls, chicken foot fetishes, painted candles and bottles and gris-gris bags. She is the owner of the Island of Salvation Botanica, LLC and the co-creator and co-chairman of the Board of the New Orleans Healing Center.
